Jumpstarting a car starts with a dead battery using another car's battery as a temporary power source. Here are the steps to jumpstart a vehicle:

  1. Park the two cars close to each other, but do not let them touch.
  2. Turn off both cars and remove the keys from the ignition.
  3. Connect the positive (red) jumper cable clamp to the dead battery's positive terminal.
  4. Connect the other end of the positive jumper cable to the positive terminal of the good battery.
  5. Connect the negative (black) jumper cable clamp to the good battery's negative terminal.
  6. Connect the other end of the negative jumper cable to an unpainted metal surface, such as a bolt or bracket, on the dead car's engine block. Please do not connect the clamp to the dead battery's negative terminal, as it could cause a spark and ignite the battery.
  7. Start the good car's engine and let it run for a few minutes.
  8. Try to start the dead car. If it does not start, wait a few more minutes and try again.
  9. Once the dead car starts, remove the jumper cables in the reverse order that you connected them, beginning with the negative cable from the engine block of the dead car, then the negative cable from the good battery, then the positive cable from the good battery, and finally the positive cable from the dead battery.

It's essential to follow these steps carefully and in the correct order to avoid damaging the electrical system of the cars or causing injury.
